Verdict

It seems a fact of life that Richard Hannon wins the first at Windsor on a Monday night, and his fine record can continue here with FOOTSTEPSOFSPRING, who's taken to get the better of Nadeen and Antonius Moris. The Hannon horse improved markedly from debut when stepped up from five to six furlongs, finishing second in a Goodwood maiden. He was nabbed late on but looks to have this sort of contest within his capabilities, sooner rather than later. A 72,000 Guineas purchase as a yearling, he's related to a couple of German 2,000 Guineas winners, and is likely to be at the vanguard early on. Connections will hope that this time he can hold on. The other two on our shortlist have a marginally better draw; Nadeen won on debut at Brighton despite a tardy start over five furlongs, to justify good support. It wasn't a great race though, and he'll need to come on if he's going to repeat that. Antonius Moris was also a winner first time out, his win coming at Warwick last week. He's Tom Dascombe's only runner on the card, and the trainer's said he expects further improvement. Navajo Chief and BA Jetstream are newcomers who could be absolutely anything; neither have any fancy entries or cost much, but any market support should be noted. Our support though goes with Footstepsofspring.
