A huge field faces the starter for what is a modest prize. Old-timers Warsaw Pact and San Marino could easily make their presence felt while Sporting Boy and Sir Roger were both successful last time, though that was back in May. David Pipe runs both Shallow Bay and Dukes Art while Quadriller may be capable of better than he's shown so far and Mighty Monty will be in the mix if on a going day. Louis Ludwig won at Stratford in August but was well beaten when favourite at Sedgefield last time and has gone up a further 8lb since. SCALES always seems to attract market support but is still awaiting his first win over timber and a hood didn't appear to improve his attitude at Stratford last time. However, he obviously shows something at home and, dropped another 4lb recently, wouldn't need to be a world-beater to win this off a mark of 95.
