Verdict

ARAUCARIA looked a good prospect in bumpers last season and confirmed that impression by beating Model County Lass by three quarters of a length on her hurdling debut at Navan. Given that was her first run since April, John Kiely's mare is entitled to have improved in the interim and can confirm the form with the runner-up, despite re-opposing on 6lb worse terms. Benefit Scheme probably has to improve on her Listowel success to land this but is going the right way, unlike Maolisa who is thoroughly exposed now at a lower level than this. Lizzie Bennett won a minor event at Clonmel over the summer and was third in a better race at Roscommon subsequently but has a little to prove in this grade.
