In depth

Verdict

This is a poor opener that can go the way of Newbay Lady at the expense of Sir Rowland Hill and Stoneyford Ben. The selection made a pleasing start to the new campaign when finishing fifth of eleven at Aintree. Newbay Lady was only beaten ten lengths by Moon Catcher and in doing so looked as though he may be coming back to some kind of form. With that in mind and the fact that this is such a poor race then he is a horse to stay on the right side of. Sir Rowland Hill was slightly disappointing last time out but if recapturing his form at Perth when second behind Burren Moonshine then he must have a chance. Stoneyford Ben has been out of sorts of late. His form of two years ago was respectable and again if back to something like his former self he has a chance but the fact that he was pulled up at Towcester last time out suggests he might struggle yet again so for the winner we return to Newbay Lady.
