    Verdict

The feature event of the day in a contest that has produced some smart winners in recent years, among them Cesare who won the 2006 renewal. Tasdeer can make amends for his disappointment at Chester last time where he was poorly drawn and could never obtain the prominent position he likes to obtain. He could well be the type that falls between being too good for handicaps and not good enough for pattern company. With that in mind connections have found a perfect opportunity for him here. Law Lord returns for his first start in the UK this season. He did not appear to stay one mile on his final start in Dubai and while he has won with an ease in the ground, if it was very testing it may not suit. Caldra has been outclassed of late in his races and is only now beginning to slip down the ratings from the smart form he showed last season. It would be surprising if the remainder proved good enough to land it and Tasdeer is the selection.
