Verdict

This should prove informative more than anything else and there probably won't be may of the big field involved at the business end, but one who we think can take the race is topweight Golano, with New Currency, New Time and North Lodge other possibles. The selection has to give weight away all around courtesy of his penalty for winning at Stratford last month. He ran up to that level of form again despite his defeat at Kempton in a better race than this last time, and he looks capable of going in again if he can maintain that consistency. Martin Pipe's runner New Currency is respected, and he has got form with cut from much earlier in his career. However he was well beaten on his latest start and would have to improve plenty to get his nose in front, though he can make the frame. New Time showed decent form in bumpers and will surely win races coming from such lofty connections, but they are out of form at the moment and so he is watched this time, while North Lodge, a winner on the Flat in Germany, is an interesting newcomer for Alan King and the market should be watched on that one. Nevertheless, Golano sets the standard and he will do for us.
