In depth

Verdict

An intriguing Novices' Chase in which Marodima gets the nod ahead of French raider Pepsyrock and Pur De Sivola. The selection has the form in the book to be competitive here having been second on his two starts over fences to date, the latter in a Listed contest at Aintree. He was a good hurdler and looks sure to make a decent Novice chaser and whilst his tendency to pull hard is a worry, he has the ability to win today. Malakiya is one to watch in the market on his chasing debut and will not mind if further rain falls, whilst Pur De Sivola returns from a break and having been well-thought-of when trained in France, he is one who could go well on this, his British chasing debut. Pepsyrock travels over from France and needs respect as his form in the Provinces looks solid, whilst Hi Dancer looks out of his depth on his chasing debut. An interesting race, and Marodima can make his class tell.
