Verdict

Despite re-opposing on identical terms, there's a good chance that PENNY MAX will reverse Newbury running with the more exposed Radetsky March. Emma Lavelle's five-year-old was making his debut over hurdles that day and still showed signs of inexperience. The extra quarter-mile should suit this son of Flemensfirth, who also gets 7lb from stablemate Court By Surprise. Reginaldinho won on the Flat in Germany and should improve on his debut fourth at Taunton, but Romulus D'Artaix is probably best watched making his first start over timber and both Solaise Express and Squinch have to overcome lay-offs. Winning pointer Sum Laff was fourth at Wincanton on his debut under Rules but will probably be better over fences in time.
