Verdict

Nothing stands out among the newcomers so this is probably a good opportunity for FITYAAN to get off the mark. Barry Hills' gelding hasn't run since finishing fifth at Pontefract in September but an earlier second at Lingfield reads well in the context of this race and he shouldn't have any problem with the extra distance on breeding. Proper Charlie hinted at ability on a couple of occasions in his first season and should be thereabouts while Uppercut was fourth over C&D on his reappearance and may enjoy a fitness advantage over several of his rivals.
