Verdict

Odds on when beaten on his debut in a nursery at Chepstow last month, Godsend is given the vote to make amends today in a race where Top Form and Viking Spirit are rated the main dangers. The selection did not help his cause by racing wide of the field at Chepstow and, given trainer Richard Hannon's fine record in this type of event, he looks worth another chance form a favourable draw. Top Weight Top Form has shown improvement with each start but faces no easy task under 9st 7lb. Chepstow maiden winner Lucky Emerald has more on her plate today especially as she is not certain to appreciate the longer trip here and of more interest may be Richard Fahey's Peters Delite, who looks progressive and hails from a stable in form. Alan Jarvis has booked Kieren Fallon for Miss Cotswold Lady and she warrants respect back over the trip over which she has shown her best form. The Barry Hills-trained Alexander Capetown showed enough at Newmarket last time to suggest that she can play a part in the finish off her current mark. A bigger threat may come from Viking Spirit, who has shown a consistent level of form in all three starts and hails from the stable of Peter Harris that is back among the winners.
