Verdict

His Grace is the only one of the eight runners that are due to line up in this maiden to have earned a rating, being rated 73, but the Andy Haynes-trained colt is likely to again have to settle for minor honours as there are some interesting newcomers and lightly raced runners in opposition. Luca Cumani's Chill, Reg Hollinshead's Stravsambition and Dazzling Diamond from the stable of Barry Hills have all finished sixth on their only start so far with the last mention looking the pick of the trio on form and on the ground. Market support for Sir Mark Prescott's newcomer State Senator would be of interest but preference is for another runner seeing a racecourse for the first time, COAX. Mark Johnston does not do particularly well with juveniles first time up but can have the odd one that obliges and the son of Red Ransom should be ideally suited by the underfoot conditions so gets the vote.
