Verdict

With David Pipe a past master at getting his charges ready after a long break we'll take a chance on his EL BANDINDOS ahead of the on form Ngong Hills while Saucy Bingo needs respecting. We haven't seen the selection for 638 days but significantly he returns to action off a mark just pound worse off than when he scored on his only attempt over course and distance on his last run. The absence could be a worry but the Pipe team are more than capable of getting one ready after such a long break, as they proved with Well Chief at the Cheltenham festival, so he should be able to run a big race. The chances Ngong Hills could be boosted if Easby Mandarin wins the previous race and while there's no doubting he's on form after back to back wins his mark is starting to look restrictive. Saucy Bingo makes a handicap debut after over a year out of action and could be well treated. He beat a subsequent triple winner on his last start and with that animal now rated at 115 his own mark of 110 might be on the lenient side. Distance winner Stop The Show should also be respected after some good efforts recently but to win this we like the returning El Bandindos.
