In depth

Verdict

Monroe Gold, St Pancras and Doubly Sharp are the three against the field in this tricky affair and Monroe Gold can lead them home. Monroe Gold has been raised only six pounds for a win on fast ground at Sedgefield last time. That was a concincing success, and followed some good performances. He is in good heart, has conditions in his favour, and looks the one to beat. St Pancras is nine pounds higher than when scoring at Market Rasen two outings ago, but he has run creditably at Kempton subsequently. He too will enjoy the fast surface and can reach the frame. Doubly Sharp won well last time at Worcester, driven out to score and is six pounds higher here. That was his first success, but he has to shoulder top weight here and is taken on. Monroe Gold looks well treated and can score again.
