In depth

Verdict

Mr Bachster is the obvious starting point here having won similar contests at Ludlow and Leicester this autumn. He's up another 7lb but a hat-trick isn't out of the question. Lodgician was second at Leicester off today's mark at the start of the month but is the senior runner here and giving weight to younger rivals who have the scope to be better over fences than hurdles. River Purple has the size to make a chaser but fell on his only previous try over fences at Southwell. MEIRIG'S DREAM has been struggling for pace over timber but has been second three times. He starts off on a reasonable mark and can land this ahead of Market Rasen winner Molko Jack, who is 9lb higher now.
