Verdict

Beacon Lodge gave 2lb and a beating of over two lengths to Bubbly Bellini over the course and distance in October but hasn't found his form so far this season. He was over 10 lengths behind SUN ON THE RUN at Cork earlier this month when subsequent winner Srucahan finished second so the form looks strong and Jim Bolger's progressive charge should complete the double. Canary Row was a further length behind and had also finished well beaten in that event here won by Beacon Lodge so looks held. Rock Critic scored over the track and trip on his only visit but looked to be heading for a career over hurdles last summer and Galway is probably a target. The lightly-raced Akira finished runner-up in a Cork Listed event in August but hasn't come near that form in two subsequent runs in Group 3 company.
