In depth

Verdict

Willie Mullins' mare Reine Angevine won a couple of minor events quite comfortably but had no answer to her very classy stablemate Pont Alexandre at Navan. Touch The Eden also represents the champion trainer and he wouldn't be running here without good reason though he'll need to improve massively from his maiden success here in November. BRIGHT NEW DAWN is progressing nicely and produced a fine effort when a close second to Champagne Fever in the Grade 1 Deloitte at Leopardstown. It will take a very strong performance to lower his colours in that kind of form though Venture Capital is another very progressive type who gave Inish Island a fright in a Grade 3 at Clonmel and should be suited by this shorter trip. Shrapnel has the edge over Rory O'Moore on their 1-2 at Galway in October but both need to find more.
