In depth

Verdict

SPECKLED WOOD has run twice over this track and trip and her latest effort behind the very promising Unika La Reconce bodes well for her chances here. That was an improvement on her earlier run and with further progress likely she looks the one to beat. Ma Belle Amie has done better over longer trips though she had little chance in a Grade 3 over 3m at Limerick last time. This is more her class and she should get into the mix. New River, a decent maiden on the Flat for Richard Hannon, attempted to make all here last month but was headed at halfway and could only stay on at one pace. She's the type to improve and should do better than stablemate Claudia Augusta, who was well behind the selection in December.
