In depth

Verdict

Stretford End will probably be a short enough price here but can take this maiden, with Jaamid and Game Lad the likely dangers. Bryan Smart's colt suffered a freak fall first time, but put that firmly behind him when a clear winner of the stands' side race at Newcastle earlier in the month, though being touched off by one on the far side into second. That is decent form in the context of this race and with cut seemingly not a problem, he can break his duck. Jaamid can also improve on a decent Catterick debut, when on fast ground he tried to make all before fitness found him out close home and he eventually finished just a length down in fourth. Bred to do well at two, he can improve and finish closer still. Tim Easterby runs a couple here and Game Lad looks the pick. He has over two lengths to find with the selection Stretford End on their Newcastle running, when he was drawn next door and performed with credit. However, where he will find that improvement from is open to question and so we will stick with Stretford End to get off the mark.
