        Verdict

        In a weak-looking maiden, Almizan can step up on a promising debut effort to get the better of main rivals, Golano and Silver City. Unraced at two, Mick Channon's Darshaan colt was relatively unfancied for his debut at Newbury last month, but under the circumstances put up an encouraging performance to finish fourth to the potentially useful Westmoreland Road. He weakened inside the final furlong that day and is likely to be a lot fitter here, so might just be good enough to win an ordinary event like this. Golano was beaten at odds-on at Lingfield last time but had shaped well on both two-year-old starts and could easily be good enough on his return to turf. Silver City looks relatively exposed and appeared very one-paced on his reappearance at Kempton. He will probably be best suited to staying handicaps in time.
