In depth

Verdict

A position near either rail is usually an advantage here and, as such, Quantica from stall 19 edges a narrow verdict over Chairman Bobby, Mynd and the bang-in-form Raymond's Pride, who should go well despite being burdened with top weight. The speedy Tommy Smith has a rail on his left hand side for the first time in a while and is also respected as a lively outsider. However, he would not want the ground too soft and he may again set things up for a strong finisher on his side. Chairman Bobby could be the one to benefit the most out of those drawn low as he has a good turn of foot and should have few problems in coping with the conditions. However, Quantica also likes to get his toe in and he looks to be very well treated off a mark of just 66 at the moment. The five-year-old does not have too many miles on the clock for a sprinter of his age and, as he posted a good effort on his reappearance at Redcar earlier this month, this could provide the platform for his connections to have plenty of fun with him whilst the ground is in his favour.
