In depth

Verdict

An open handicap in which many hold solid claims and this will no doubt go right down to the wire. However, King Harson makes plenty of appeal from his low draw and he is preferred over Cardinal Venture, Fiveoclock Express and Qualitair Wings, who are all entitled to plenty of respect and should make a fist of it as things unfold. So too could True Night, who may be the best of the David Nicholls-trained trio over this trip, but he has a fair bit to do from a poor draw and will need luck on his side. Tim Easterby is also triple handed and Go Tech could be the one to shine from his representatives. However, nothing makes more appeal than King Harson, who finished last season with a flourish by recording wins at York and Catterick as well as hitting the frame on several occasions. The five-year-old may be hard to place as the season goes on but, as he has won off a 4lb higher mark in the past and acts on any type of ground, King Harson can be expected to give an honest account of himself with plenty in his favour today.
