    Verdict

WESTERN APPROACHES was racing off a 5lb higher mark when runner-up to Flying Phoenix at Ludlow last week. She's won over 2m3f so the step back up in distance should suit Ian Williams' mare, who is the one to beat against largely modest opposition. The once-useful Advisor has been well beaten in sellers lately while Calaf is still a maiden over hurdles, though did win over 1m4f on the Flat in October. Ladies Dancing is slowly coming down the weights but hasn't shown much so far this season and likewise Kim Tian Road.
