    Nonrunner

    In depth

    Verdict

This is a shocking contest in terms of quality with none of the 14 runners having been successful previously and what can only be a tentative vote goes to Pat Eddery's SPRING QUARTET, who ran well when last seen here in May, and the son of Captain Rio is taken to open his account with the main dangers looking to be Astrobrava and Awani. Ed Vaughan's filly ran better on the Polytrack at Lingfield last time and, with more improvement to come after just three starts she could be of interest. Sir Mark Prescott's Eloise is similarly lightly raced but has been well held in all three starts so far, while a market move for Rebel Prince would be of interest. Valkyrie comes from the yard of Nick Littmoden that has finally hit some form so she cannot be discounted, while Persian Tomcat has had plenty of chances but has run some reasonable races in defeat and he may be placed again. Silver Sceptre is another that has only had three starts and could do better now handicapped but a bigger threat is likely to come from Astrobrava, who has been given a chance by the handicapper and seems to be coming into a bit of form. In a poor contest it is Spring Quartet that is marginally preferred having run well here before and he gets the vote.
