      Verdict

EXCELLENT VISION is the call with Neduardo and Tell Halaf also on the shortlist. Bryan Smart's inmate was highly tried last term without success. An expensive purchase, he could well have needed his juvenile year and with connections keeping faith, there is plenty of room for optimism. Neduardo will be the yardstick for the assessor. Peter Chapple-Hyam is a rare visitor to Southwell and his colt should have few fitness issues having had a couple of recent outings. Jamie Spencer is an interesting booking on Tell Halaf. The betting suggested that not much was anticipated from the colt on two outings at the back end of last season. Layla's Lexi did not progress between starts though is in receipt of the fillies allowance this afternoon. Blue Moon was a relatively cheap purchase given connections usual budgets. Coal Miner ran as if his debut would not be lost upon him and on the positive, his yard have returned back amongst the winners. Excellent Vision is certainly well bred and expect to see him priced accordingly in this company.
