In depth

Verdict

The best race of the day can go to Party Boss at the main expense of recent winner Waterside, although Bahamian Pirate should be fitter for his recent reappearance so rates a danger to all. The last-named travelled well for a fair way before tiring nine days ago and assuming that he comes on for that run, Dandy Nicholls' runner has claims although this trip stretches his stamina. In contrast Waterside gets further than this trip but battled well to win over six last time out and Gary Moore's charge rates a threat with the in-form Neil Callan aboard. Wessex is a course and distance winner so warrants respect despite being out of form at present, however Party Boss looks a cut above these and gets the confident vote. Clive Brittain's gelding has been running well in better races of late, and as a course and distance winner he looks to hold solid claims. The small field will certainly be no problem, as he showed when winning several on the bounce in early last year. In a tricky little contest, Party Boss gets the vote.
