A competitive handicap on paper may see Tipsy Lad prevail at the expense of Vlasta Weiner, Nevinstown, Mirasol Princess and Scuba to name but a few. There are many in with chances here, that is for sure, but a closer inspection of the form reveals that Tipsy Lad can meet Vlasta Weiner on fully six-pound better terms for the neck that separated them at Lingfield recently. Vlasta Weiner has since followed up at the Surrey track last Tuesday and is obviously in fine fettle at present, but the return to this track and the weight concession to Tipsy Lad sways things in favour of the latter. Nevinstown won a Banded race here in January and has only been seen once since, when a close second in a Redcar handicap in August. He does not take too much getting ready judged on that effort, so he is another for the short-list. Mirasol Princess showed signs of a return to form at Lingfield but is moderate to say the least, while Scuba is only lightly-raced and shaped well enough when second over seven furlongs here last time. Limonia and course and distance winner Mulberry Lad are just two more worth a mention, but with the weights in his favour it is Tipsy Lad that appeals as the answer.
