In depth

Verdict

A decent prize which has attracted a cracking field of sprinters. Loyal Tycoon has been in sparkling form since the turn of the year, picking up three races along the way and is a credit to his trainer, who has placed him with care. However, he has plenty on his plate in this and is passed over. Air Mail is tried in a visor again, something he last wore two and a half years ago. His stable is in much better form now and if anywhere near his best, he must go close. Middleton Grey will need to put behind him a lack-lustre effort at Wolverhampton over the weekend behind him, if he is to figure here, but he is another, who if anywhere near his best, would have outstanding claims. J M W Turner is wonderfully consistent and will be difficult to beat in this. He is best in at the weights, has a decent draw and should get the strong pace he needs to bring out the best in him. If the three-year-old No Time handles this surface he will be a danger to all. Mark Polglase's speedster will be all the better for his recent outing at Lingfield, where he showed plenty of pace until lack of a recent outing took it's toll in the closing stages and although he hasn't the best of draws here, he cannot be left out of calculations. Sundried Tomato has been running well all winter, and it should be no different here, but it will be a surprise if he is good enough to win on these terms, while Law Breaker is another who is worthy of respect in what is an open contest.
