In depth

Verdict

Archie Babe should be all the better for his experience here last week and should be involved in the shake up here off a 3lbs lower mark. He should have nothing to fear from Carnage, who ran in the second division that day and was beaten a similar distance, but in a much slower time. Great As Gold showed improvement for the fitting of the cheekpieces for the first time when just getting the better of Rebelle over two miles here before Christmas. Whether he will be as effective over this shorter trip remains to be seen, but there will be plenty of pace on here, which should suit. However, a chance is taken with the maiden Tass Heel, who ran well enough on his only previous start here last October, when beaten just over a length by Solomon's Mine. That effort reads well enough in the context of this race and he is taken to lose his maiden tag on this 18th attempt.
