Verdict

A very poor race to open the card with few of these ever troubling the judge but something has to win it and the token selection goes the way of WHATCANYASAY though Desert Soul and On My Terms are likely to have their supporters. Evelyn Slack's horses tend to do well at this track and this moderate chaser makes appeal here on the basis that his hurdling mark is significantly lower than that over the larger obstacles. A previous winner around here on fast ground, that should not be an issue here. Desert Soul ran well for a long way when tried over this trip earlier in the month. One placing in 11 starts says it all. On My Terms was second in a Cartmel seller on soft going in August. He looks moderate though any Jimmy Lambe raider has to be respected. Desert Stag was a little disappointing in a seller at the course and more is required. Pugnacity is a regular in plating company while Auberge failed to build on a fair third in a Catterick bumper and now steps up massively in trip. Nigwell Forbees would be interesting in the event of any money as he patently stays further than this trip and he should be fit from a summer campaign. Whatcanyasay is only a token call in the opener.
