Verdict

Bold Pioneer is only 2lbs higher than when successful in this contest two years ago but he has only had two starts since then and has yet to prove his ability on a soft surface and preference is for PRIORYJO, who gets the vote over Ginger's Lad. Mick Easterby's gelding is less exposed than his rivals after just six starts and he has to be respected being dropped into a seller for the first time on his handicap debut but he has been well held in all outings so far. George Moore's Lifes A Mystery is similarly lightly raced but has been well held in his last two starts in handicaps including on a softish surface last time and he is hard to back with any confidence. Chris Grant's Mardood remains a maiden after 12 starts but cannot be discounted in such a poor contest, although more solid claims are held by Prioryjo. Martin Todhunter's mare has gone well with some cut in the ground before and comes into this in better form than her opponents so she looks worth siding with in this event.
