In depth

Verdict

It's unusual to find a bumper in the middle of a card and this one will hardly have punters salivating. BERKELEY AVENUE can justify the long trip up from Lambourn by landing it for Warren Greatrex, whose yard is just starting to hit form. The Needwood Blade gelding was beaten less than a length on his racecourse debut at Lingfield and it's worth taking the chance that he stays the extra as he gets 7lb from surprise Wetherby winner Master Red, though the latter is also open to further improvement. Little Boy Boru and Master Rajeem are likely to prove the best of the newcomers and should be monitored for future reference.
