Verdict

GUNNER JACK can get things back to basics though Programme Girl and Theatre Belle are strong threats. A progressive sort prior to his Cheltenham blob, Gunner Jack went into many notebooks with a promising second to Ballyfitz at Haydock. Any overnight rain should cause few problems and his yard are in good form at present. Programme Girl farmed a number of Novice races last term. Today represents a crossroads as to whether she stays hurdling or goes over the larger obstacles. Theatre Belle was third to My Petra at Wetherby earlier in the month. Her rider can claim his allowance on this occasion. Charlie Crab has had two high profile failures over chase fences and is hastily rerouted to hurdling. Peter Monteith has had a few winners of late so don't discount Sinatas from bouncing back to form. Day To Remember has proved a tricky ride in the past and it remains to be seen as to whether he truly stays the trip. Front-running Balamory Dan returns to the track after an absence of almost a calendar year. A strong race for this pot and Gunner Jack looks best placed to take it.
