      Verdict

      Donald McCain rarely leaves Sedgefield empty-handed and, whatever the fate of his other runners today, VASCO PIERJI should send his supporters home happy. He was headed right on the line by a Tony Martin runner at Perth in June and can go one better getting 7lb from last month's Ayr scorer Fly Home Harry. Cousin Guillaume has been placed at Kelso and Southwell and can make the frame again but Favourable Fellow only looks moderate and the filly Madame Flirt is probably best watched on debut.
