Verdict

Roger Varian has his string firing on all cylinders but the handicapper has taken no chances with Kempton maiden winner Deglet Noor. Sharqawiyah's only win came on soft ground but she's another with her fair share of weight at present while Narmin will have to defy a 7lb weight rise if she's to complete her hat-trick and stablemate Ethel disappointed on her handicap debut at Windsor. Al Jamal and Playbill look closely matched on Windsor running last month but we prefer COSSETED. She beat Mahican at Pontefract last month and the second has won both starts since. A mark of 74 here looks very generous on that evidence.
