In depth

Verdict

Empiricist has been quite highly tried so far and, along with Saved By The Bell who was too green to do himself justice on his debut, could well figure in a race in which less than a third have previous racecourse experience. But there are one or two newcomers in this who catch the eye on breeding. Russian Realm is by Dansili out of the high-class Russian Rhythm and has an entry in the Derby, as does Cyclone, while Adeem is a half-brother to Sakhee though John Dunlop's two-year-olds are normally better after a run. FLYING OFFICER is a full brother to St Leger winner Lucarno and Thought Worthy, who won the Great Voltigeur at York last month and runs in the Doncaster classic tomorrow. Still in the Racing Post Trophy, he can make a winning debut though Mr Fitzroy is also one to monitor for future reference.
