In depth

Verdict

Requisite is drawn well and looks capable of taking this from Liberty Belle and Brazilian Brush. Ian Wood's filly has been kept to six furlongs since her first run, but this stiff five furlongs, plus the draw, and some good winning experience to boot, suggests that she has what it takes today. Liberty Belle carries a penalty after a Folkestone win over this trip last time. She is proven on the ground and also gets further, so if she can overcome an unfavourable pitch from stall four then she should get heavily involved. Brazilian Brush was a soft ground Goodwood scorer last month but wasn't far away at Brighton on a much quicker surface last time and remains very competitive from this same mark of 72. Maggie Kate is perhaps just a bit too high in the weights to take this, while the same goes for the consistent Wynberg, and Savannah Poppy probably needs further than this. An intriguing handicap then and the vote goes to Requisite.
