DON PELE can come out on top in this competitive contest, and is selected ahead of Desperate Dan and Best One. Plenty have chances though, with a number of course and or distance winners. The selection is racing off almost a career low mark these days, and is gaining weight from most of his rivals. Another big plus is the high draw. Best One is Don Pele's stablemate, and very consistent. They're Ron Harris' only runners on the card, and he could get the first two home. The downside for Best One is the low draw. Desperate Dan's won twice recently; last time out he played up beforehand, so maybe we should forget that run. One of those successes was an unpenalised apprentices handicap. Cape Royal is a course and distance winner, but may not like the cut in the ground. Mogok Ruby has too, but being joint top weight could find him out. We think Ron Harris will win this, and more likely with Don Pele.
