The David Evans-trained OGRE escapes a penalty for her win in an apprentices' handicap at Epsom last week and she is hard to oppose off the same mark with the slightly shorter trip not being a problem and gets the vote ahead of Desert Kiss and Palacefield. Peter Chapple-Hyam's colt, a Chepstow maiden winner in May, struggled on his handicap debut at Thirsk but ran much better at Windsor last month and he has to be considered after that effort. Roger Charlton's Truly Asia has been running with credit in recent starts in maidens but looks plenty high enough for what he has achieved in that grade for his handicap debut and of more interest may be Gallego. An improved effort at Salisbury last time gives him every chance but this is a harder race so he may be booked for a place at best. Ralph Beckett's Poyle Meg is likely to find this tougher than the maiden that he won at Nottingham last time and a bigger threat to the selection is likely to come from Desert Kiss. Walter Swinburn's filly has shown a consistent level of form in recent starts with wins at Kempton and Ascot followed by fair efforts in defeat at Bath and Windsor but she may just be a shade too high in the weights and preference is for Ogre.
