GENERAL SYNOD was due to contest a novice stakes at Salisbury last week only to be taken out on the day and this Racing Post Trophy entry will be fancied to atone for his debut defeat where he returned a beaten favourite. Arc Light has been made favourite for both starts so clearly shows something at home but he was well held by another Hannon runner in Cai Shen last time and the winner went on to land the novice stakes in which General Synod was a non-runner. Musawama can be expected to improve from his debut and emerge as a bigger threat which is backed up by his Group race entries. It would be remiss not to make a cursory inspection of the market but the remainder either look long-term prospects or fairly ordinary.
