      In depth

      Verdict

An interesting race which features the second, third, fifth and twelfth from the Listed Sandringham Handicap but we're going to take a chance with a filly coming out of maiden company - Soft Shoe Shuffle. Visit merits respect but can be taken on on her seasonal return conceding weight all round whilst Rosaleen emerges best at the weights of the Royal Ascot quartet but looks vulnerable and a couple that reoppose are open to more improvement. Sugar Mint failed to give her running in the Oaks but has won over a mile and should be a factor in this grade as should Melodramatic, who was strongly fancied to win her latest start at Newbury and this trip may well turn out to be her optimum. The selection has plenty to find on the book but has progressed with each start and won't be out of her depth. She may not have beaten all that much last time but the style in which she quickened clear was impressive and there's every chance that she'll be able to keep up the decent record of her family which includes the smart Leporello and Poppy Carew. She may be the lowest rated horse in the race but she can make her mark in this company and we can all celebrate by doing Walter Swinburn's Soft Shoe Shuffle.
