    Verdict

This looks an open Novices' hurdle and just narrow preference is for Serhaaphim ahead of Guardian Of Truth and Squadron. A winner on her debut at Plumpton, the selection then ran well under a penalty against the fair yardstick of Its Moon. Judging from both her flat form and her runs over jumps all ground comes alike to her but with this soft ground certainly no problem, a big run can be expected. Guardian Of Truth represents Gary Moore who continues to have regular winners under both codes and his gelding needs consideration having only been held by just over four lengths in an (admittedly weak-looking) Grade Two hurdle last time at Lingfield. Mutual Friend has not looked any better than average in two starts over timber, but this ground may be more to his liking, whilst flat-recruit Squadron looks the type to do well over hurdles and has joined a top stable. Distiller should not be overlooked with improvement to come, however it is Serhaaphim who is fancied to make the most of the weight she receives from the field.
