Verdict

SAY NO NOW proved disappointing at Royal Ascot but could spring a surprise by getting the better of Strawberrydaiquiri and Wadaat. Favourites have had a thin time of it in this race since Sir Michael Stoute took back to back renewals with the market leaders in 2003/4 and this year's renewal looks ripe for another upset. Wadaat has the highest BHA rating courtesy of her second in the Italian Oaks but she disappointed in the Lingfield Oaks Trial prior to that and in the Epsom feature last time. She now drops back to a mile and has plenty to prove whichever way you look at it. Strawberrydaiquiri has a similar profile to the yard's two previous winners who both came here on the back of maiden successes after just one and two starts. She was very impressive at Windsor and drew right away from the field but the runner-up has since been beaten in a handicap off 75. The Italian maiden winner Young Americans is something of an unknown quantity but the dam won plenty of races at around this trip in Italy and support would make her of interest. Say No Now had little trouble landing her maiden on her seasonal reappearance and then ran well over ten furlongs at Goodwood where the trip found her out close home. She finished much further behind Moneycantbuymelove in the Sandringham which has to go down as disappointing but this front-runner probably paid for chasing a fierce pace. They are unlikely to go as hard from the front in this small field so she could enjoy the run of the race which may see Say No Now go close at a big price.
