Verdict

With the Godolphin operation in such good form, Dubois looks the one to be on, with his main dangers seen as Momtic and Maclean. Although he is not a straightforward ride, the lightly-raced selection did not shirk the issue when making all in a Goodwood maiden last time and, allotted a rating of 82 for his handicap debut, could well make them all go again. The three-year-old should have better to come and can set about proving that today. Settlement Craic might fare better in what will be a fast-run race, but Keelung was put in his place at Salisbury last time. Anousa was beaten out of sight last time following a heavy-ground win at Kempton, while Mr Tambourine Man, who has yet to prosper in handicap company, has a bit to find with Keelung on Salisbury form. Momtic ran pretty well here behind Barathea Dreams over a mile last time and, from the same mark over this longer trip, and with Kevin Darley booked to ride, could give the selection most to do, along with Sir Michael Stoute's Maclean. He gave the impression last time that a step up to this trip would suit him when third at Newmarket, and finds himself sitting at the right end of the weights. Odiham could be interesting over this longer trip but has a bit to prove overall, and you know that Mark Johnston's runners will keep on galloping, so do not rule Man Of Letters out of claiming some prize money. Overall, then, the one for us is Dubois.
