      Verdict

This is one of the few races of its kind that Serena Brotherton hasn't won in recent years and her mount George Baker has to be in with a shout though it's almost two years since he last won. LADY CROSSMAR is the form pick on her victory over 7f at Epsom a month ago and she was staying on strongly over that trip at Kempton two weeks later. She's never raced on ground with some give so her ability to act has to be taken on trust but she's handed the vote to give Megan Nicholls another winner. Beep is still a maiden after ten starts but she ran her best race to date when facing soft ground for the first time at Newbury and looks a major threat. Orthodox Lad is a decent enough hurdler but how he'll cope with this trip is another matter.
