In depth

Verdict

In a modest event, Jill Dawson can follow up her recent course and distance win, chiefly at the expense of Cool Ebony, Ten Shun and Crimson Flame. It was a similar event - minus the hands and heels bit - that the selection won last time and, despite being eight pounds worse off with the runner-up that day, Murrumbidgee (who was beaten three lengths) and the fourth, They All Laughed (who was beaten three lengths), she can confirm the form. Many of the others need to improve on what ability they have displayed so far in their careers, but Cool Ebony, Ten Shun and Crimson Flame, who wears a visor for the first time today, seem to have improved of late and are afforded pretty decent chances at this level. Drawback is another that could improve for first-time headgear, so is not ruled out, while Hand Of Destiny could also improve in first-time headgear on his Turf debut. Overall, though, we will stick with Jill Dawson.
