Verdict

No let-up in the competitive nature of the card in the finale and OVERTURN is a likely candidate for top honours. Brief Look and Kimberley Downs are others worth bearing in mind, while Misty Dancer is equally effective under either code of racing so each-way support could bring about some kind of return if he is still on song after his recent return to the fray. Watch the betting carefully where he is concerned. Kimberley Downs took a while to get going when switched to turf earlier this season but made the most of a drop in the ratings to make all in a solid-looking handicap at Ascot 16 days ago. Typically for a Mark Johnston-trained horse, the son of Giant's Causeway is shaping into a durable character and he is likely to be involved in the action right from the start. He is 6lb higher today, so it'll take a good effort from him if he is going to repeat the feat today. Brief Look is a dual winner on the artificial surfaces and her recent performances suggest she will cope with today's step up in distance. The Sadler's Well filly won't mind the state of the ground and it will be interesting to see if she is kept busy during the closing weeks of the season. However, Overturn also has bags of scope for improvement now the emphasis is on stamina and, as he comes here on the back of a solid effort behind the highly progressive Lochiel at Haydock last month; Overturn is fancied to grind out the right result for his supporters in Salisbury's last race of the 2009 Flat turf season.
