Verdict

Awatuki gets the call here ahead of Mister Benedictine and maybe Smart Gal. Awatuki is a Derby entrant and ran well when returning for the season to finish third in a reasonable affair at Kempton. He can improve on that and looks a leading player today. Mister Benedictine should build on his Newbury return and his canny trainer will find a race for him, no doubt, and maybe today will be thAT day. Twill looks set to build on her Leicester return, although she has to prove that today's mark is fair. The others should each improve this year, not least Smart Gal, but the vote stays with Awatuki.
