Verdict

ADMIRABLE DUQUE is our call in this contest with Star Links and Pointillist the others making the shortlist. The selection put up an eye-catching run at Lingfield Park on his second racecourse outing, having exhibited little on introduction at Goodwood. The second ran a respectable racesubsequently at Yarmouth and in real terms this engagement does not look to be one of the hotter maidens on the racing calendar. Star Links could make for an interesting handicapper after this race. He clearly hasn't reached the greatness that was anticipated at the sales but Richard Hughes' booking is hardly the stuff of negatives. Pointillist is a well-related type who might make a little more appeal next season. That said, the market is watched just in case. Cry For The Moon has been sunk on two occasions at better tracks and is hastily rerouted to take on apparently lesser opposition. Davids Matador does at least have experience of the Salisbury track but it would be disappointing were there not anything to improve past him. Fire King and Ouster were both unfancied on debut and ran accordingly. Mountain Forest, who has a distinct German emphasis in his breeding, makes a belated debut. Rio Gael will be of more interest once handicapped.
