In depth

Verdict

Tanzani is easily the pick of those with experience, but it would be no surprise if the well-related newcomer Kawn proved good enough to make a winning debut. Marcus Tregoning's filly fetched a whopping 500,000 guineas as a yearling, and is a half sister to several winners, including the high class miler, Trans Isalnd. Although it is of some concern that she hasn't seen a racecourse until the backend of her second season, connections appear to have found this Cadeaux Genereux filly a relatively easy opportunity to open her count an dif she is half as good as her breeding and indeed her purchase price suggests, then she ought to be able to win this comfortably. Tanzani is probably the one she has to beat. Kevin Ryan's charge shaped with promise in two juvenile starts and produced a fair effort when third at Catterick last time, so he sets the standard that Kawn will likely have to beat. The rest look an ordinary bunch, and the pick of them could be Barry Hills' Guadiaro, who was well beaten at Yarmouth last time off a mark of 68, but had earlier shown some ability when third at Lingfield. However, inh what looks a decidedly weak maiden, Kawn is taken to make a winning debut.
