In depth

Verdict

The old-timer Fit The Cove has dropped to such a lowly mark that he's turning back the years with two fine efforts already this month but may find CURL CAT too strong here. Thomas Cleary's charge fell when tried over hurdles in March but it doesn't appear to have affected him as he ran a fine race over 1m1f at Ballinrobe last month and has shown better form over this trip. Wellmarked has also returned to form in the soft ground and though not quite able to cope with Ningaloo Reef at Naas last time he won from a higher mark than this at Cork in October. Majestic Pearl couldn't drop any lower but is still a maiden after 27 starts while Theyturnedmedown ran poorly from an 8lb higher mark at Sligo after scoring over the C&D a week earlier.
